Shigella

Habitat:

 

Shigella is a bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans.

 

Importance:

 

Shigella is a bacterium that causes diarrhea.  In some cases, the diarrhea is severe, leading to bloody stools, abdominal pain, watery diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and dehydration.

 

Classification:

 

Shigella is a thin-walled, rod-shaped bacterium.  It can live with or without oxygen.
