Habitat:
Gallionella has been found in many different types of habitats including freshwater mineral springs, shallow brackish waters, and marine hydrothermal venting sites, as well as in soil environments associated with iron.
Importance:
Gallionella is one of the microbes that are the basis for food chains in the environments in which they are found.
Classification:
Gallionella is a bacterium. It does not have a cell wall. It acquires its energy from iron and uses the energy to convert carbon dioxide and water to sugar.
